The Swedish judge presiding over A$AP Rocky’s trial released him from jail following the conclusion of a three day trial this week. A verdict will is expected on August 14.
What’s Been Happening
A$AP Rocky and two members of his entourage are on trial for trial for assault in Sweden. All three plead not guilty, arguing self-defense. Videos and testimony show Mustafa Jafari, the accuser, following and harassing Rocky’s crew, with Rocky and others repeatedly asking Jafari and Jafari’s friend to leave them alone. Videos also show a fight breaking out between Rocky’s crew and Jafari.
Today marked the third and final day of trial. In closing arguments, the prosecution asked for Rocky to serve six months in jail, saying there was too much violence to support a self-defense claim. The Prosecutor also claimed the group acted “deliberately, together, and in agreement.”
The defense responded that nothing about the situation was premeditated or coordinated.
The trial saw testimony from two women who were nearby when the fight broke out between Rocky’s crew and Mustafa Jafari, the accuser.
One women testified she did not see Rocky hit Jafari with a bottle. She said she heard a bottle being crushed. She had previously told the police that she did see Rocky hit Jafari with a bottle.
This is important because the bottle as a weapon might elevate the seriousness of the situation if there is a conviction.
Both women testified they saw Rocky involved in punching and kicking Jafari.
Rocky’s Bodyguard Testifies
Rocky’s bodyguard, Timothy Leon Williams, took the stand in his defense today. His testimony was that Jafari swung at him with a closed fist before missing, and then threw his headphones at him.
In addition he said about Jafari, “I knew something’s not right about him. I’m noticing it because I’m a bodyguard. And now, I’m looking at him like, ‘Yo, what’s wrong with you?’ I’m looking at him and saw that his eyes were really glossy, like he’s on something.” Rocky had also testified it seemed that Jafari was under the influence of drugs.
Rocky testified yesterday he repeatedly asked the men to leave his crew alone.

The situation escalated internationally when several American celebrities lobbied our president to get involved.
