Charges Against Kevin Spacey Dropped

Kevin Spacey was charged with indecent assault and battery of an 18 year old bus boy in 2016. The alleged incident occurred at a bar in Massachusetts. According to Spacey, the accuser told him he was 23 years old at the time. Spacey is accused of rubbing the boys thigh and groping his penis. Prior to the alleged physical assault, the accuser stated Spacey supplied him with numerous alcoholic drinks.

When Spacey’s accuser took the stand, he pleaded the fifth regarding the disappearance of his cell phone that was used to obtain evidence the night of the incident. Questions arose whether he had deleted text messages from the phone.

The phone was turned into prosecutors in December 2017 by the victim’s mother, Ms. Unruth. Spacey’s defense team alleged that the accuser had deleted text messages that were crucial to the case prior to turning it into authorities. The accuser claims he did not delete any evidence from the phone, but Ms. Untruth admitted she had deleted a few things. Due to these events the case was dropped by prosecutors.

In addition, Spacey is accused of sexual assault of six other victims in London.

In one instance, Spacey was accused of inappropriate sexual advances in 1986. The accuser was 14 years old at the time.

Spacey was fired from Netflix in the Fall of 2017 after members of the series of House of Cards accused the actor of sexual assault.

Indecent assault and battery is not a term used for a specific crime in Michigan. The equivalent of indecent assault and battery in Michigan for this case would be is fourth degree criminal sexual conduct. Sexual assault is classified by four different degrees; first, second, third and fourth degree sexual assault. In addition there are also a number of sex crimes that other than sex assault crimes.
